My 17 month old DD was poorly beginning of week. She was sick once and had on/off temperature. Wednesday she was back to normal and back at nursery. Been fine since.

Then earlier this afternoon nursery called to say when she woke up from her nap she was very hot and subdued. Took her temperature and it was 39. So gave her some Calpol but rule is that they then have to be sent home.

Last night I was unwell. Very feverish, runny nose, achy, bit nauseous. Took day off work. Been in bed all day.

DH said DD seems not too bad. Sooooooo hope whatever it was was a weird little one-off and won't come back. She's been ok since being ill beginning of week!

Am just a bit concerned as I really feel quite poorly and am thinking it's probably best that DD doesn't see me. If she sees me she'll want to be with me and I'm worried I'm contagious.

What should I do?

Also not sure bout food for her?! Should I offer her something but something really simple?

Thanks

It's up to you but I tend to assume that anything I've got, DD has already been exposed to (since you're usually contagious before symptoms start). The main exception is obviously D&V so if you start actually vomiting, it would be best if your DH was able to keep her apart.

Your DD may not feel very hungry, but you may as well still offer (you can't tell until you try) and if she doesn't eat anything, you can try something simple like toast. Make sure she keeps drinking though. Ideally water rather than milk. My DD often just wants milk when she's poorly - and too much milk with not enough water when they get to that age can cause constipation, which isn't fun.

Hope you feel better soon. It's not much fun when you and DC are both ill.
