This is distressing, so sorry it is so long. This is about my nephew who is just 3 - has been going to nursery 3 days a week since he was 18 months, screamed his head off for 6 months, eventually settled but still cries when he is dropped off. Has been potty trained at home for 6 months, but refuses to go at nursery. Finally my sister told the staff on Mon to stop using a nappy and he didn't pee between 8am and 6pm. When she picked him up he did it all over himself. This is very distressing for all of us, my thinking is that if he still hates the nursery she should move him to a different one, when will he start feel relaxed at nursery? He is a very clingy insecure child when he is not at nursery as well.

oh blimey poor boy.

If ever a child is clearly unhappy in the nursery environment, it's this child don't you think?

Does she absolutely HAVE to use a nursery? What about a childminder? Those are long, long hours he is doing at nursery.....sounds to me he would be a hell of a lot happier in a home-like environment.

Poor boy.. I really feel for him, holding onlike that and just having to let go when he saw his mum

She needs to move him, if she can't be at home with him herself!

I have to second what sunnysideup said, he is obviously unhappy at nursery - it suits some children, but some need the home envioronment. try a childminder, somebody a bit mummsy, who will give him lots of support, eith fewer children about.

Will suggest it, a year and a half of unhappiness is so long...
