Hi there. My 3 year old DS has just had a monumetal meltdown! It started innocently enough with trying to get him to come in for his lunch. He wanted to keep his shoes on so i explained that he needs to take his shoes off in the house. He wouldnt let me take them off so i said fine, just sit down and eat your lunch. Then the really wanted to take off so i said , ok, went to take them off and here the battle begins! On, off, on, off. Yes, no, yes, no. Go away mummy, no come back!
He wanted the opposite of everything. As soon as i say ok, it flips again. He was so wound up and distraught i tried to give him a cuddle but he pushed me away. As soon as i stand, he needs a cuddle! This went on for over half an hour and i ended up shouting at him. He did eventually calm down. This isn't the first time he's done this but it is the worst!
Please tell me it's just a phase and will be over soon!
Does anyone have any experience of this and a coping strategy. Nothing seemed to calm him even his beloved bear!
