DS has just pointed out to me that he has two new molars growing at the back of his mouth. One at the top one at the bottom. I didn't think he would be getting new teeth now...just loosing the baby ones. Have just had a quick Google and all the pictures I can find show 8 molars not 12! Shock Can anyone tell me if its normal at this age to be getting more?!?

Yes it's totally normal. They get a set of permanent molars at around the age of 6/7.

The 6's ie first permanent molars erupt from age 6.

Phew!!! I totally panicked as he has only lost 2 teeth so far even though all his friends have lost loads now. Also my family seem to have funny teeth...my fathers side all had only a couple of adult teeth. Very weird. Haha. Glad to hear it's normal though and has given me a sharp reminder that I must book our dentist appointment. Wink
