So I'm now pregnant with my second child and my partner and I told my son (2 years 10 months) at around 14 weeks. Since then he doesn't seem to want anything to do with me and has become totally obsessed with his dad. He only wants his dad to put him to bed and won't even give me a cuddle, even saying "not you mummy". I find it terribly hurtful but we have tried to carry on as normal rather than giving in to him, but this has been going on for over a month now.
I guess this is jealousy already? I am assuming this must be to do with my pregnancy as the timing seems too much of a coincidence. We have both tried talking to him about his new baby brother or sister, read books about it with him, and really made a fuss of what a great big brother he will be and how important that makes him, carefully explaining that we both still love him just as much. But he still shuns me constantly, it breaks my heart.
Has anyone else come across this reaction even before the baby has been born?
