Ds pulling himself up to stand

DS is almost 8 months old and has learned how to pull himself up to stand. When he's in his cot he's falling all over the place pulling himself up or when he wants to sit back down.
I've got air wrap bumpers on but he's still getting his arms and legs stuck or bangs his head.
At what point is it ok to leave him? I don't want him to hurt himself but at the same time I can't be there to stop him falling if he wakes up and stands up and I'm asleep for example.

Are you worried he's going to get out of the top of the cot? Is the cot base in its lowest position?

If you are just worried he'll fall over inside the cot and bump his head, sorry, but that's probably going to happen at some point anyway!

DD is in an Ikea cot that has quite a high top position for the base so we had to lower it as soon as she could even attempt to pull up onto her knees (at maybe 9 months). But she's bound to bump her head at some point, a baby could do this even if they rolled over if you have solid ends to the cot. I think a padded cushion over the end/sides would be much more unsafe than the odd small head bump.

Thanks for replying drspouse.
I'm not worried about him climbing and falling out as we've lowered the base to its lowest position so he can't climb out of it, yet(!), but am more worried about him falling over and banging his head. He's still unsteady and falls down quite a lot and am worried he's really going to hurt himself or get a limb stuck and fall and hurting himself that way. (I might be over thinking it as we had an accident last week where he fell and it required an A&E trip!
I'm not really sure what I'm asking tbh, is it ok that he's now pulling himself up and I'm not watching him in the cot 24/7? Will he really hurt himself or is it just part of learning?
What did others do at this stage? Just let them be or watch them like a hawk til they're steadier on their feet?

We mostly just left DS to it. It passes pretty quickly. We did buy him a 'sleep snuggler' from JoJo Maman Bebe as it has legs and meant he was a bit more steady standing up in his cot than in a sleeping bag.

Thanks doje.
Good idea about the snuggler. Will look into.
I guess I'm just going to have to let him bump himself a few times!
He's fine getting up its just when he wants to sit back down again, he just falls.
