DD won't accept that she can't pee like a boy!

DD2 (2 3/4 years) has been using the loo for several months now but recently she's started trying to 'pee like Daddy' ... As this involves her peeing her pants, trousers, socks, shoes and leaving a puddle on the floor, I'm not very thrilled about this [exasperated emoticon]. I told her that Mummy, DD1 and her are girls, with girls bottoms and that we need to sit on the loo to pee but (oh dear god give me patience ) she insists that she's not a girl, she's a boy and that she wants to pee standing up!

Is she one mixed up child or is this yet another developmental challenge to keep us on our toes?!!

I would say its just a challange . She can pee standing up but there is a certain knack to it ./

I often catch my dd doing this too. She will only attempt it when i'm not around (she is 3) and if i walk in she quickly turns and sits on the toilet.

All a learning experience i guess for us or for them? hmmmm

Oh we had this - dd wanting to wee standing up like ds1. She really wanted a willy for a while (which was not helped when ds1 announced that the reason mummy and dd didn't have willies was because they'd blown away in a big storm) but it got better close to her third birthday. She's 3.6 now and is quite happy about sitting down and seems to have forgotten the willy option. One thing we did was have her go to the loo with her older female cousin, who she worships, and that helped too - "No dd, remember how dn did it..."

Have you thought of investing in a she-wee?

The mind boggles as to what DD2 would do with/to a she-wee Pooka ... am sure the possibilities are endless! Thought about buying one of those for me (I have the smallest bladder in the whole wide world) but then realised that that would still leave me with a disposal problem

So glad to read from this thread that my uber-mischievous and experimental dd is in good if barking company. She can often be spotted limbo-dancing over her potty, and if caught, immediately turns and sits, guiltily smirking.

The Inferiorettes are very proud of their ability to pee standing up (backwards, in case you were wondering).

My DH almost alsways pees sitting down. TMI, I know, but perhaps if your DH/ DP were to be caught doing same...

twelveyeargap - DH sits down to pee in the bathroom upstairs because the loo seat won't stay up and I haven't got around to fixing it yet - DD2 watched him sit down for a pee yesterday morning .... After her peeing all over the place standing up episode yesterday after lunch, I followed her to the loo to make sure she was doing it properly after that (to save my washing pile and my sanity) and found her sitting down but pulling her 'front bottom' out so that she was clutching a kind of handful ... she said she was peeing like Daddy does when he sits down ...
