My 5yr old boy is growing a beard!

Ok yeah I know it sounds weird and ridiculous but this is genuine... My DS has always had some facial hair under his chin, about the size of a penny since birth, and fairly inconspicuous and I didn't really worry about it.
Now it has grown, about the size of 2 50p pieces and getting long and noticeable. I have considered getting rid of it but he's not really aware of it and I don't want him to be self conscious about it. Advice please? Also should I seek medical advice? I doubt my GP will have any answers

Definitely see the GP. In girls early signs of puberty need to be checked out in case of some sort of treatable disorder. Quite possibly similar in boys.

Has anyone else got any experience of this or seen it?

Is his skin discoloured underneath the hair? It could be a type of birthmark

Jellylove · 02/04/2015 22:24

No discolouration now or previously

Yes I would take him to the GP. If it's not a beard it might be a mole which would need checking anyway as it's grown so suddenly.

Did you take them? If so what was said.
