Foot slammin 16 week old!

My 16 week old DS has slept through from a very early age - however, this week, he has started slamming his feet down on the mattress (very hard!) of his crib over and over again during the night. He doesn't seem to be awake when he does this but is obviously very restless - he usually stops if I put his dummy in and goes back to sleep for a couple of hours until the foot slamming starts again.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can stop him doing this so his sleep is more restful - plus, he is disturbing me and DH and we are now seriously thinking about moving him into his nursery even though I don't feel ready for this move yet - but at least he can foot slam to his hearts content!!

Don't know the reason - our little one raises his legs in his sleep up to his chest for one of two reasons, he is either two hot/cold, or has some uncomfortable wind. Perhaps they even dream? Ours is 18 weeks old and we are considering moving him into his own bedroom - we actually disturb him when we go to bed! My other half says I need to move him so that I sleep, apparently I get up three times in the night to check on him, but I can't remember doing this in the morning!
