My DD is 22 weeks, today I started preparing some sweet potato for her to put in the freezer ready for weaning in a few weeks. I baked the potato, scooped put the flesh and mixed in a couple oz of my milk, before putting into tiny we pots for freezing.

DD was in her chair in the kitchen watching me, and when I'd finished, I thought I would put a bit of the SP from the bowl onto the end of my finger to see what she thought of it. I did this a couple times over about 10 mins, but I reckon she had no more than maybe half a teaspoon - If that.

The next thing I know she is really sick!! And it smelled of proper adult sick! I feel so awful and can't believe I was so impatient, for the sake of a couple weeks.

Now I'm really worried about weaning instead of excited.

Did anyone else experience their LO being sick the first time you let them try solids??

Really don't worry about it.

Could have just been gagging - sometimes they are sick because of this.

I doubt it was the tiny amount of food she had that made her I'll. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Is it common for them to be sick after such a tiny amount?? Really worried about weaning now :(

Before you start weaning you need to look up the difference between gagging and choking on you tube and do a bit of research on the gagging reflex so you're not worried by what you see.

Swallowing something other than milk is a new skill and takes practice.
