help! 2yr old escape artist

Last night my dd scared the livig daylight out of me by appearing atth sitting room door. she had managed to climb out of her cot. I didnt make a fuss just put her back to bed. this kept happenong until I gave up and she ended up in bed with me - fatal error, I know! Please someone tell me what to do!

Probably time for a proper bed. Ok so she can get out of that easier etc but, you can really big it saying she's a big girl etc. We put a stairgate on Ds room for the first few weeks until the novelty wears off so if he got up he wasn't wondering around the house in the dark.
