Ear playing.... Teething??

My dd is almost 15 months old and only has 4 teeth. She got her first just before she turned 1 and the 2nd came within a few days. Then about 3 weeks later the first top one appeared and then a few days later the 2nd.
It's feels like its been a long while now with no teeth appearing but she goes through phases of grumpiness, uber dribble and every night/nap since she got her first tooth, she plays with her ears.
It's not an infection as she's had numerous gp visits for other things and they've always said her ears are fine.
Could it be her teeth? Surely teeth 4-8 must be due. Is it strange that she still only has 4 (I don't mind but want the teething stuff to be over and feel very behind)
She has been chewing on anything and everything since she was 3 months so for us we can't see that as a sign.

I always related ear-playing with tiredness.
