They end up not eating then being so miserable for not knowing why they're annoyed...hunger! Mostly lunch

Can you think of what's preventing them from eating at lunchtime? You need to give us a bit more of a clue!

My two are usually a pain with meal time in general. These don't work all the time but sometimes they do. With breakfast and lunch I try and get it ready before they get up or get in from Nursery, I try not to give them the same thing every day, and don't make any fuss if they don't eat it, they do seem to like the 'fuss' of the lectre if they don't eat so I don't bother.

With dinner DD is a pain, sometimes I ask her specifically what she wants, other times I dish hers up on my plate and pretend she hasn't got any thing at all, and make nice like I'm letting her eat mine, I tend to do this if I know we've got a big day the next day, or a party or late night ahead of us. Sometimes if I know she's in one of those moods and isn't likely to eat when I want her to, I cook it, dish it up and bung it in the microwave, when she declares that she's hungry and heads for munchie stuff, dinner appears from no-where.
