16 month old- just teething or something else too?

DS is normally very active. The last few days he has been wanting to sit and cuddle and go in his buggy more rather than walk. I know he's teething (he's only got 4 teeth at the moment) as he's been grumpy, off his food and waking up earlier. But the other change seems odd. Could it be a growth spurt (I suppose unlikely since he's not eating much)? Or related to his new found clinginess?

I'm no expert, but my DS (19m) has just had a bad bout if teething. His sleep is terrible, he's clingy and emotional, crying going to nursery for the first time ever, and he was entirely off his food for several days. And, like your DS, he's had very little energy - wanting to be in his pushchair or sitting with me rather than walking or playing.

He had a cold as well, but GP have him a clean bill of health and said all of this stuff could well be teething.
I suppose it makes sense that pain plus bad sleep and lack of food can throw everything out of whack. Hope it goes quickly for you.

Thank you Beans. That makes sense. He's started getting up even earlier! Hopefully it will pass soon Smile

My DD started getting clingy at that stage too. She also only had four teeth. Within a month she broke 4 molars!
It unsettled her sleep with early wakings and up through the night. She broke another 4 teeth the following month!!
I'm getting ready for the dreaded canines Grin

We've had this sort of day with 19mo ds. Clingy, tearful, subdued. And two shiny nubs where his canines are pushing through. Poor thing.
