22 month old running hands over surfaces? Do others do this?

Hi there, bit of a strange one, at least I think it is. I've noticed that my boy has started doing something weird where he will run his hand repeatitively back and forth over things. The first time I noticed it I was in bed with him (only recently gone into his own bed) he sat up and randomly started running his hand back and forth from my shoulder to my hip where I was laying next to him. He has always pushed his hand under my body or under a pillow while going to sleep, I guess he found it comforting. Now he is in his own bed he will sit up and run his hand repeatitively back and forth over the wooden surface of the headboard of his bed. It seems to be when he is going to sleep or settling down to sleep. He gets frustrated when I ask him to lie down, and I can hear him continue to do it after he has lied down. I was wondering if this might be a sign of some sensory need he has, and wondered if anyone else has experienced this!? Thanks!

Does he have teddies, soft toys, or a blanket 'comforter' in bed?

I guess we all have 'sensory needs'!?

Nothing to worry about I shouldn't think, unless it become obsessive.

My DS does this sometimes. Think it's a way of self-soothing.
