Hello everyone, I haven't posted on here for a while now, but in need of some advice please.
My DS is nearly 11 and has been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 8, he is on medication which does help him concentrate at school, but these last few weeks he has been struggling at school, not only with finding it hard to concentrate from around lunchtime onwards, but he is having problems controlling his temper now too. He also finds doing his homework very hard to do at home as he can not concentrate long enough to do it, I have spoke to his consultant and we are seeing her in April, but I was just wondering if anyone else out there is having the same problems, I'm not sure if it's his medication thats wearing off too quick, or its his hormones kicking in, or both.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Ds1 (19) has ADHD and takes Concerta XL in the mornings. We found it was wearing of by the time he was getting home from school and so he took a 10mg Ritalin tablet with his tea so that he could function in the evenings. We waited until tea time as the medication affected his appetite and tea was his best meal. He stopped taking this a couple of years ago but after a trial without any medication decided to start back on the Concerta. He has had his moments but we have had a fairly smooth ride through the teenaged years!

It's good that you will see your consultant soon. It sounds as if he may need his medication adjusted.
