specifically on doing what mummy asks, or just generally being a bit nicer to mummy Sad

she responds well to books, hoping there's something out there

For nice behaviour at dinner time we liked How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food.

You can teach the concept of obedience by naming the concept and then using the concept in your day to day life. For example, she's not listening to you. You say, you are not listening to what I ask. That is not obedient, DD. Mummy likes obedient girls. Will you be obedient?

And then, the next time she's good you can reinforce it by saying, "DD, you have been so obedient for mummy! What a joy you are to have around!!"

I find that sometimes all I need to do is raise one eyebrow and say in a low voice, "Will you be obedient DD?" and she instantly snaps to attention!

(Lots of tricks learned from being a teacher's daughter).
