My 14 week old daughter won't stop screaming after her bath

Every evening my 14 week old daughter has a bath which she loves. After her bath she cries and screams until her feed. She hates being dryed and having her clothes put on. Sometimes I find it difficult to comfort her as she won't even take her feed. Can anyone suggest anything to make help?

could be just that she's really tired by that time.

If she loves baths why not have one earlier in the day / in teh morning so that at night she just needs to be changed into night clothes and fed.

You don't have to bath her every day, of course.

SHe must be overtired. My DD used to scream and was impossible to get dress in her pj's after her bath and still sometimes at 15 months reacts like that too. I now only give her baths if I know she won't get too overtired if not I clean her with a flanel and soap. And the bath can be taken an other day!!!!

my DD is a similar age & does the same thing. Tonight I tried dressing her afterwards in teh bathroom rather then teh bedroom & she was much happier - perhaps they get cold after the bath & that's why they cry? might be worth a try....

Ds2 is 8 months and is still a bit like this. He definitely was the same at that sort of age. I think it was because he knew it was wind down time, milk and bed were coming - by then the day's activities had all caught up with him and it was his way of letting out all the 'stress' of the day! It would build and build to a crescendo until I sat down and fed him, when he visibly relaxed.

I find if I stop to try and comfort him, it just prolongs the whole experience. So I try to get all the drying and dressing done as quickly and calmly as possible. I'm sure your dd will come through this phase, maybe try starting the whole routine a little bit earlier, or give her part of her feed before her bath if you suspect it may be hunger. Good luck!

Hi i have a 7month old and she did exactly the same i just carries on getting her ready for bed, i think it is good for them to have a good cry it helps them bring uo their wind and makes them hungry ready for that night time bottle. Perservere it will get better...

Exhaustion, I think when they are very small, baths are very tiring for them, lots of stimulation...maybe better to give her a bath earlier?

have you tried a tummy tub? my ds hated bath time and would seem very stressed after it but after 5 mins in his tummy tub we are battling to keep him awake as it just chills him out.

donsulivan's right. Keep going and it will get better. Try a little ealier? Keep and eye on how lo is doing. My dd is 19 weeks and still does this occasionally tho not half as much as she used to

My baby used to cry after her bath if I didn't feed her immediatley. I used to get her out, wrap her in a warm towel and feed her, by that time she was calmer and dry and happy to get her 'jimmy jammers' on.

Wrap her in a big warm towel and feed her straight away
I think they get v hungry in the bath!
