I would like to refresh my son's book collection. he loves to read - he's currently into Curious George.

But any suggestions for books for his age group? Classic children's stories as well as new authors

If your looking for something for him to read try Chip and Biff which is what they use in schools. If you're reading to him, both of mine love the Octanauts books.

Would you really recommend him reading C+B and risk him getting bored/disinterested at school when he's heard all the stories before?

Part of the joy of school reading books in new stories.

I bought "The Adventures of Pip" by Enid Blyton for my 4yo son a while ago - a book full of very short stories about a little pixie and his experiences with wildlife. We both enjoy them and they've all been re-read numerous times.

^ Saying that, probably not the best thing for HIM to be reading - more to have read to him.

The Book With No Pictures - but it needs to be read to him rather than him reading it. I have yet to meet a 4yo who didn't love it!
