Hyperactivity after eating a Vue cinema sweet popcorn???

My DH took DD, age 3.7 to cinema this afternoon. She had a kids size sweet popcorn. DH said that after an hour in the cinema she started running up and down the stairs in the cinema. Then they walked into town, about half a mile, and she ran all the way. When they returned home she was hyper active - noticeably more active than usual and she is a very active child anyway.

She also chose tonight to stick a pea up her nose - first time she has ever tried anything like that (and A&E couldn't get it out, so she has to go to an ENT clinic on Mon).

Has anyone else noticed similar effects with cinema popcorn?

nope

It's possible; mine goes loopy after Chubb Lollys and jelly sweets... Different additives affect different children!

What was the film?

Cinema popcorn is really high in calories. Maybe it's just all that extra energy that he was trying to burn off?

No. Maybe the movie was boring? It is very young to take a child to the movie...

No. And ds reacts hyperactively to lots of junk food. But not that one. Though as a pp said, children react differently.

What did she have to drink?

Most likely just the environment or a result of boredom. Hyperactivity due to sugar has actually been proven to be a myth - parents think they're hyperactive because we expect them to be but they're actually not.
