Projectile vomiting from a 3 week old - normal?

Hi,
My DC3 is 3 weeks old and is breastfed. Since he was born he has always been sick a lot. However, this seems to be getting worse, he projectile vomits after most feeds, seems to sick up most of the feed and is then hungry for more, and this circle continues endlessly!

I've tried different ways to burp him from more frequently, patting, stroking and just putting him upright and nothing seems to make a difference. He's not in pain but does choke on it a lot which is not nice to watch!vsometimes it's minutes after the feed so looks like fresh milk but more recently it's digested milk so lumper and thicker.

My other two did 'spit up' as they say, they never vomited like this, is it normal or should I be worried something is wrong? He has gained 5oz since he was born so is gaining weight although slowly. He's tiny though, still not 7lb if that makes any difference?

Thanks!

It could be that he has reflux. We had to keep my dd upright for 15min after a feed and she slept with a cot/Moses bed wedge to keep slightly tilted. We were given various medicines to help, and she outgrew it by 7mo at weaning. Might not be that at all, but it could be worth popping to the Dr.

I would speak to your doctor. It could be reflux or allergy. Both of my babies vomited profusely after feelings and ended up being allergic to cows milk that was passing through my breastmilk. I have to be completely dairy free while bf.

Agree with the other posts. Get your LO checked for reflux and allergies. I had a nightmare with dd for 4 months. Gp prescribed nutramigen formula for cows milk allergy plus omeprazol for reflux. She was better pretty much over night.

Poor you. Hope your little one settled so Smile

Yeah, it seems wise to get him checked out, thanks everyone. Xx
