Got a 2 yr old DS, who's lovely, happy, confident, but all of a sudden won't go out without me. Screams if the woman who's helped look after him since he was one tries, or his dad, or anyone really. Got to real hysteria that doesn't abate. Any ideas anyone?? I know it's normal, but I want to try and help him through it without making it worse...

Hi smee. My 3 yo was like this from day 1 but seems to be getting over it now (see shy 3yo). But dd (19mo) who has never been clingy has started to cry when I leave her at nursery and to follow me round the house and cling 2 my leg etc. So I guess its a phase they all go through. I just give a kiss / cuddle hand over and leave when taking them 2 nursery or leaving with someone else, ds went through a phase of taking a cuddly toy to nursery which helped. At home if dd clings to my leg, I pick her up and give a cuddle then find a new toy or activity to set her up with and get back to whatever I was doing (sometimes works). J
