Is this normal (from a 6 year old)?

His teacher asked the class what they thought of their families today. DS put both thumbs down. He told me over supper (I suspect trying to provoke me). He followed it with the words 'do you feel sad now?' If all behaviour is communication, what the hell is he telling me?
I don't know why he is so unhappy :( I'm really tearful - hurt and worried.

No wonder you are tearful - that's a horrible thing to hear your DS say. It would make me cry too. Has anything happened at home or has he recently been told off?

Yes, fairly constantly reprimanded for being mean to his brother, shouting etc. But he also gets lots of cuddles, treats and praise.

My 6yr old (almost 7) has been a bit like this lately. Goading almost I suppose.

As far as I know things are fine at school, home no changes so I think he's just testing how far he can push me.

He does occasionally have minor issues with a boy in his class; being left out, or in favour. Either extreme really affects his behaviour at home.

Could something at school be bothering him?

If not, I don't think it's too unusual anyway, certainly as far as my DS goes. A lot of his class (y2) seem quite attitude-y currently.

A phase? Helpful! Any progress, do lets know! ????

Well, he finds school difficult and is quite negative really. We've got a meeting with the teachers next week.
Sorry (but also a bit reassured) to hear that your son is behaving similarly blondie...

Know what you mean, I read your post with an element of relief too!

Hopefully you can get any school worries ironed out, and they both move on to the next phase soon!
