How soon before childrens right or left handedness becomes apparent or fixed? Just interested as 20 week DS is going for things with his left most of the time and I wondered if that meant he was a lefty?

In my experience it's not fixed until much later. Dd showed a preference for her left until 2/3 years but now uses her right. My twins swap and change. I am a teacher and done children are still 'deciding' in Reception!

I'm very right-handed, DH is mostly left-handed, except tennis and cricket, so we are interested to see which way DS goes. He is 2.5 years old now and I'm still not sure. When he was younger, he seemed to be preferring his left hand. He can use a spoon with either, but is more co-ordinated with his left, however most of his 'drawing' is with his right. He is definitely right-footed for ball kicking, etc.
