early weaning and ?reflux

hi my ds is 16 weeks old and has been having gaviscon with feeds for 2 week as he vomits /cries frequently.I tried him without the gaviscon for 2 days but he seemed really unsettled and cried a lot and started vomiting again.Anyway i am wondering what to do.today and yesterday he fed eavery 2 hours-full breast feeds ,both sides.He doesn't seem very happy between his meals-outings are a disaster.should i try weaning-maybe some baby rice?he's big about 17lbs.he's driving me crazy!what do u think?ps he sleeps well at night about 12 hrs 7-7 with a dream feed at11ish although i've noticed him hungrier at 11pm and his morning feed(which usedto be 8am and is now 6.30-7am) thanks

hi ya has this been going on for long? him being extra hungry as babies go through a growth spurt at this time! my ds just had 2 weeks of feeding fenzy i call it and i started thinking about weaning but she's calmed back down now so must have been a growth spurt!
also she's a reflux baby too

My son had mild reflux. I used gaviscon. I did early weaning and it didn't help at all. Just got multi-coloured vomit instead of cream. My son was big too (91st percentile). It eventually stopped at 10 months but he will still be scik very easily, when he has a cough for example.

hi thanks for advice.it probably is a growth spurt-it's sometimes hard to think rationably when your ds is screaming and your dd(nearly 4years) is being grumpy.anyway anyone got any good advice on how to make my ds more comfortable and HAPPY during the day? im using gaviscon but i am never sure wheither to use 1 or 2 sachets(he's about 17 lbs)i don't want to overdose him.what do i do if he wants to breast feed 2hourly do i give more gaviscon.also how do i know when to stop.ive aslo been to a cranial osteopath .i felt as though there was a difference the first time(but started gaviscon at same time)but no difference the next time.any thoughts?

Hi Lesley - you should be using a double sachet of gaviscon for each feed. Not sure if there's a max number of times you can give it in a day, but I doubt you'd go over it if there is with him sleeping so fantastically at night .

Do you mean how do you know when to stop using gaviscon? Paed advised us to wait until 9 months and then ease off a bit and see how she reacts (currently 8 months).
