It's a good opportunity to talk about differences, imo - discuss with her how people are all different colours, different shapes and sizes, have different needs, but how we're still all the same under the skin.

Children seem to be very aware around this age of similarities and differences. I'd discuss it with her and explain we don't have to be the same to be friends. Get her looking in the mirror and describing herself and then looking at friends etc.

Yes, it's a good topic to discuss. You can mention different eye colour and hair colour etc. Also, it starts explanations about different countries and languages. They notice these things!

she seems fascinated by them. we live in a predominatly white area, so it is unusual to have a child of a different ethnic origin in classes.

i will try expliaing that we are all different. i have had many of those conversation regarding disabilities.

Agree with others - opportunity to discuss it. A good way of showing how we can recognise differences and accept them as 'normal' if you like - not just between different skin colour but also hair colour, eye colour etc among the same skin colour.
