18month old putting stuff up his nose!! why oh why????

Why do they do this and how can I deter him before a trip to A&E is required??

Why I ahve no idea but they seem to enjoy it. Dd went through a phase of this but luckily we managed to generally stop her before anything got stuck. Had a problem with tissue paper once or twice but amnaged to get taht out ok. Only advice I can give is to keep as much small things out of the way as possible and keep a close I eye on them and hope for the best.

Do you watch 'House'? There was one episode where a child kept putting things up his nose - a toy policeman, a toy fire engine, etc. Eventually they 'figured out' that he was sending resuce teams and used a mangnet to remove the toy cat that was up his nose.
I dare say this is a frivolous and irrelevent comment, but I thought I'd share.
