**3mth dd sleep nightmare any ideas?**

She used to sleep through the night, more or less, but now she wakes up every 3/4hrs for a feed (breast feeding exclusively) she is in a cot in our room, she has just moved into it as she outgrew her moses basket. Is it this change that is waking her up? She falls to sleep on her own at 7pm no probs, and only really has one big daytime nap and a few very short ones, she always wakes up very easily. Anyone been there? any ideas?

Hello

My DS is also 3 months old and exclusively breastfed, I find his routine changes all the time. He was waking just once in the night and now he is back to waking every 2 hours for a feed But he has done this before and settled down again. I think its probably a growth spurt. I tell myself its a phase and it WILL pass, not easy I know, last night I was up 12-1am, 3am and 4-5am and then he woke up for good at 6.45am.

Hope it gets better soon

Totally normal for a 3mnth old to wake 3/4 hourly imo.

Becky is 11 months and still wakes once for a feed.

they do go through a growth spurt at 3 months. have to say dd was bottle fed by then and jumped from taking 4/5oz bottles to sometimes taking 8 sot hat's a fair bit for your body to catch upwith. Hopefullt it should settle down again soon (until the next one which dd is going through now (17weeks) and waking early! Hope things imporve on the other side.

Clarissa I'm sure we will eventually......

My dp had to take a couple of days off a few weeks ago because he was waking hourly so the last few nights don't seem to bad at the mo!

How are you getting on?

When DS (also breastfed) was 3 mths his sleep was so erratic that at four months the HV suggested solids (v. young I thought - hadn't planned to do that until 6mths), but every baby is different and DS was v. hungry and also quite big - he took to solids (though continued breastfeeding til he was 9mths) and was waking no more that once a night by 6mths. Also, if you have not already done so, may be worth starting an evening routine, ie, quiet time, bath and bed as this can establish the difference between night time sleep and day time naps. It is also worth trying to take baby outside for fresh air as much as poss during daytime, (even whilst sleeping) cos this can help with night time sleeping - also a short walk can actually do wonders for your own post-natal fog (by the way this will get better with time - that exhaustion is just a memory for me now, although when ds was 3 mths I thought I would never feel like the old me again.) Best wishes!
