DS has just turned one and I think I'm giving him too much milk as he's not eating that well at meal times, particularly in the evenings. He also has milk in his porridge and yoghurt each day. Please share how much milk you're giving your LO's in cups/bottles as just not sure how to cut it down. Thanks and merry Xmas all! Smile

I was giving my 13 month dd 3 8oz bottles but have recently reduced these to 6oz each. Next step is to give the milk in a cup instead of bottle think I'll work 1 bottle at a time. How much milk is your dc having?

13 month old dc has milk 5th at breakfast half mixed into cereal and the rest to drink
Then a 7oz bottle at bedtime. Dc eats plenty of dairy during the day and drinks lots of water.

Two 150ml cups but occasionally we top up his evening cup an extra 50-100 ml when he wants extra. Also has porridge or yogurt most mornings.

Also if he is ill or teething and off his food he may have a glass of milk with lunch or instead of a snack.

When my boy was 1 he had 1x beaker of milk in the morning and 1 in the evening (I guess about 5/6oz in each beaker) He has milk with cereal every morning and always has a yogurt after dinner x

Official advice is 12oz of cow's milk after a year, and that can include dairy foods.

I don't do bottles after a year but they can pretty much have as much milk as they want in a cup - it works out as less than 12oz I think.

I've been trying to get his food intake up and milk down over the last few days but he didn't eat much tea tonight and then had a massive milk feed before bed. He has a big bowl of porridge in the morning with 150 mls of milk and cheese and yoghurt at lunch and dinner most days. I just can't seem to get him to eat more in general - it's like he holds out all day and then realises at bedtime that he's still really hungry Hmm. Hate the thought of him going hungry xx

My son is nearly 1 and has a lot more milk than other posters. I recently saw a health visitor who wasn't at all concerned as he eats all food ans textures. I recently stopped any milk between lunch and bed, and only one feed overnight, but he has:
Breastfeed 6.30am
Bottle 6oz 9.30am
Breastfeed 7pm
Breastfeed overnight
I'm aiming to swap the bottle for a cup and stop the overnight feed over the next month.

I think at 12/13 months I was doing morning 7oz, lunch had yoghurt afterwards, bedtime 8oz. And water at 10ish and 3pm ish. I noticed when I cut down the milk he ate a lot more.

We are similar to you, my DD is 13 months now and loves her milk. What I've done is given milk in a cup in afternoon (was having bottle) and I've found she doesn't really drink much and will happily eat a snack instead. I Give her 6/7 oz in morning and at bedtime and this is still in bottle as I've no idea how to change as she won't take it in any other form but I'm not too worried as Shes currently getting used to a little less milk in her bottles so I
Plan to just play it by ear a bit. Some days she eats well and others not so much but loves yogurt and cheese so I'm not worried about dairy intake.
I haven't a clue what I'm doing I just wing it and hope for best. When I read threads like this I worry as I think I'm doing it all wrong but then I try not to worry as I'm sure it will be ok in the end if I do my best. :)

Ds has just turned one. He has an 8oz bottle at bedtime and around 5-6oz in the morning. I give him a cup of milk in the afternoon and it's very hit and miss if he'll drink it, I think he prefers water. He has lots of cheese/cheesey sauces, yogurt etc so I'm not to worried. ViperActive I was thinking of trying to ditch the bottles too but, after reading the advice I've decided to kick it into the long grass!

Around the same- but formula until 11.5 months. He had a small bottle in the night as well until we night weaned him at around 11 months. He always been a very good eater though-don't know if it makes a difference.
