4 yo wetting problem

My DS is 4.10. He has been toilet trained since 3 and dry through the night since the same time. I'm not sure if he is just being lazy or whether there is an issue that I should get checked out but he always has wet pants. It's like he doesn't get to the toilet in time so always has a wet patch in his pants/trousers. After this happens (daily) I ask him if he wants to go to the toilet to finish off and he says he hasn't got any more wee to come out yet if I make him go to the toilet he can produce a lot more.

This only happens through the day, he can go 12 hours through the night without any wee dribbling.

Is this common with boys? Just laziness? or something that I should see medical help with?

It's always best to check with a doctor before you assume laziness. Sounds like it could be an infection.
