Teething Question...

My DS is 6 months in a weeks time - his front bottom two teeth appeared four days ago after a couple of months of dribbling and savaging everything within reach like a wild dog. My (maybe stupid..) question is this... He is still biting and chewing like mad and still seems to be suffering with really sore gums - how long does teething go on for. I know that it takes a long time for them to all appear, but does that mean that they are in pain for all this time or does it work in batches - settling down when the first lot appear and then starting up again? Is there a usual timescale for this or does it totally depend on the baby???
Thanks Ladies.

My ds is 8mths, he got his bottom 2 teeth at 5mths and still no sign of any others yet. He has bouts of bad teething which last for a few days and I am onvinced they will appear and then nothing! I guess it must be a bit like us when our wisdom teeth come through - I know with me it wasn't constant but some days they would niggle all day.
