So he keeps doing it. A lot. Sometimes every other minute. He sniffs too, but this isn't as regular as his throat clearing.

Its just come on in the past few weeks. I dont think there's a medical reason, although I will take him to the doctor if it continues.

It is quite honestly the MOST ANNOYING thing but obviously I don't want to appear annoyed by it.

I've asked him if anything is wrong and if we need to take him to a doctor

He's not at all shy or nervous - the opposite in fact - and nothing has happened to make him feel insecure.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like a tic and it's probably best just not to make a fuss about it. Lots of children have them and they usually disappear within a few weeks/months.

My ds 17, went through a phase when he was about 5 of blinking all the time. After a few weeks I took him to the doctors who told him in a stern voice to stop and he never did it again.

It's probably just a phase but get it check by doctor just for peace of mind

He might have a bit of a cold. My two have had for weeks now. My ds is always clearing his throat - I don't hear it I.e. it doesn't bother me.
