8 month old had personality transplant

I think I just need a moan as DS is starting to get me down the last couple of weeks. He's normally a joy to be with but recently he's whingey the majority of the time and constantly wants to be picked up and carried around.

He seems to have a lot going on at the moment as he's almost crawling but getting massively frustrated with it and also seems to have separation anxiety.

I don't know if I should be picking him up everytime he gets whingey or letting him realise he's ok and that I'm not going anywhere.

Aw, he's only small and it's only a phase. Most babies go through it and out of it soon enough. What does your instinct tell you you should do about it? I am a big fan of doing whatever you feel comfortable with and feels right to you, not denying of course that in some cases it won't be the convenient choice. My DD is 3 and until she was just over a year old, I'd just go with whatever she needed from me. My feeling is that they are too young for boundaries at this stage and just need reassurance.

Mine was like this for a while, plus his sleeping at night was skewed. But now, he's had 2 new teeth emerge & has started to crawl & pull up on furniture & he's back to his sunny self

I think you just have to ride it out & if he is getting upset at leaving you, try to let him see you where possible, eg put him in a highchair to watch while you are cooking. Also, peek-a-boo is supposed to help with separation anxiety as it lets baby see that you will return.

Aha, I'm pleased to say I've just come out the other side of this. Dd is just 8 months but was 10 days overdue.

It lasted just over 2 weeks of her not being happy with her toys, getting in a muddle trying to crawl etc etc. just grumpy baby all the time.

Check out wonder weeks, there is one that ends at 37 weeks and fitted my dd practically to the day. She's sunny and chilled again. I almost did a happy dance when I was able to put out a whole basket of washing in another room without her grumbling.

Ah glad to hear it will hopefully pass soon. I will just keep on reassuring him for now and let the housework stack up
