I can't remember if I've asked this before [forgetful emoticon] but has anyone been to waterbabies classes with their lo? I'm taking dd next week and I'm getting quite excited.

Yeah dd started first course at 8 weeks old and just doing last class of course 2 tommorrow, hope to do all 4 and we love it!!!!!!!
DD is so confident, can do multiple swims under water, hold on to side alone and go's into pool alone from sitting position (I do catch her though!) Hope you enjoy it as much as I do x

I left swimming lessons for DD and DS until they were much older. DS is 4 and loves the water (I get nervouse watching him) DD is 7 and is very nervous in the water, I am nervous around her too. I wish I had done it much younger.

Took ds before he'd had his first sent of immunisations (can't remember whether that is at 1 or 2 months) and it was FANTASTIC!!!!! It was so amazing to see him swim with his eyes open and he is doing the next coures. Last weekend, he did his first solo swim with dh's hand just touching his head. You will have a great time!!!!!

Thanks for your responses. Dd (20wks) has been in the swimming pool before and enjoyed it but waterbabies looks more exciting than just going to the pool with mummy.

Hi there,

we took our DS to Waterbabies from 6 months, he's now 15 months and still loving it - he had a phase for a couple of weeks where he was a bit gurney but we kept taking him and bobbing around at the side when he cried and now he loves swimming and bathtime!

Have a great time!

Our DD was scared of water from birth... I think I just didn't have a clue of how to give her baths!!!! And we started water babies classes when she was 6 months old, gave me more confidence and gave definitely more confidence to DD. She is now 15 months old, and adores the water. We still go to waterbabies classes once a week, she gets very excited, learnt as well many nursery songs from the classes. It is a wonderful way to learn how to swim...

I am starting waterbabies in a few weeks time too. My LO will be 3 months tho I've been swimming with him since 4 weeks. I do take him under the water with me and he seems OK.
What 'verbal signal' do they give with waterbabies? JUst thought it would be good to give the same cue when I take him now.
Also - how long do they let them go under for? I have just been doing 2-3 seconds.
AND - has anyone let their baby go under the water or do you hold onto them?
Wow what a lot of questions!!

i couldnt afford the 'special' swin nappy so wasnt invited!! it would seem a mothercare swim nappy is not adequate.
