While the aims of this group, I CAN, a children's communication charity, are laudable, here , I don't think calling for the government to do something will make one jot of difference. Ultimately, it is down to the parents and I wish groups like these would stop calling for government to intervene in order to replace the role of the parent. Educate those parents that want to be helped but there are some out there who see nothing wrong with their parenting style and ultimately, they are free to raise their children as they see fit (and society has to deal with the consequences - that is the nature of a free society).
The Make Chatter Matter campaign also wants communication-friendly early years settings.
What on earth are communication-friendly early years settings?
Am I the only one who thinks that it is totally unrealistic for the government to act as a vicarious parent or am I out of step?
