DS1 has just turned 3 and has started swearing - and not soft swearing, he's using f*k!!! How do I stop this - do I ignore it and hope it will go away or do I come down on him and tell him it's not acceptable?? Any help or advice gratefully received.

Hi, My dd is now 4 and just started school, just after she started nursery last year she swore a few times, once rather loudly in a restaurant which was really embarrasing. The first couple of times she did it I made a big deal of it, but that seemed to make her worse, she would then do it and laugh to wind me up. Once we started to ignore it she soon stopped.

My dd used that word once.
I explained to her that it was naughty and that mummy didn't like it.
I said "I know another naughty word you can use instead: Silly Billy"
She has never used the "f" word again, but calls me a "Silly Billy" with great satisfaction
