Baby dd grabbing labia/vulva

Hello all.

Dd is 6.5 months and for the last month she has been grabbing and pulling her labia/vulva during nappy changes and her bath time. She's so insistent during bath time that we have to use one hand to cover her and the other to wash her! If we don't stop her then she makes herself sore by scratching etc. She has no nappy rash and the skin is completely clear and pink there so I really don't think she has any irritation.

Is this normal development? I didn't have any experience of babies before dd so I'm not sure. Thanks Flowers

This is perfectly normal. No need to stop them exploring once the area is cleaned after a nappy change or at bath time.

I don't mind her exploring, we just have to stop her otherwise she hurts herself. Would be much easier if she let us cut her nails without World War 3! Thanks Flowers
