Still no teeth at 12 months - anyone else?

My DD still has no teeth though you can see a sort of outline where they might come. Gums don't feel particularly hard, no dribbling, no rash, no flushed cheek. I went back to work 5 weeks ago and since then her sleeping has been dreadful - waking up screaming every couple of hours (at best). I want to believe this could be teething at last - any similar experiences?

HV and GP both said it can take a while for teeth but everyone else keeps banging on about how weird it is :-(

DD didn't get a single tooth until 14 months, unusual but very normal apparently. The upside for us was zero teething symptoms for any of her teeth. In fact the first one took us by surprise as she wasn't showing the signs and we had all but ordered her some dentures by that point. She was very competent at gumming food by then ;-)

DS2 had one lonely tooth on his lower jaw for ages - I used to call him gappy. I think his teeth turned up quite late - say at 13 months or so - but I honestly can't remember in more detail than that! He has a full too full set now at 2yrs 3 months Grin

Just checked on FB (where I keep all my memories Grin) - he had exactly one tooth at the age of 12mo.

So it's normal, or your DD and my DS can be weird together!

Dd1 was 14 months when she got her first tooth and 16 years when she lost her last baby tooth. Her teeth are lovely.

Thank you for the reassurance - I shall ignore my MIL!

So, for 'everyone else' you mean your MIL? Grin

If the GP has said it's fine then feel free to ignore her!

My baby's 12 months and no teeth no real signs either but I'm not worried they'll come soon

DS got his first tooth at 14 months. He is now 9 and has only lost 4 baby teeth. Dentist isn't concerned and as DS is going through a teeth brushing refusal phase i guess it's a good thing he still has his baby teeth!

Dd was 15 months before she got first tooth.
