Hello (me again) my dd is 17 weeks, we are house sitting at a farm at the moment, and it is an old house. The thing is she seems to be an ok temperature when i put her down to sleep but by the morning her hands are pretty cold. I have tried scratchmits but they keep coming off has anyone got any ideas what else i could do?
Not sure how the heating works & also am worried it will get too hot, as it is such an old system!!

Second question is i have left my dd twice with my nan(her greatnan), both times i have come back to her crying her eyes out, now i can truthfully say she isn't a crye baby. My nan has had 5 girls herself so she knows what she is doing. Do you think she gets worried as i am not there?? Isnt this a bit early?

Thank you

I'm not sure where you could get them now but DS had some sleep suits with fold over cuffs so you didn't need scratch mitts. The other option is sew a small piece of cloth onto the cuff and fold it over the little ones hands.

They sell the sleep suits with built in scratch mits in Matalan.

if she is generally warm then I wouldnt worry too much about cold hands. Try to keep them under her covers.
As for you nan. not sure what to say. Does she talk loudly?

Haily111 · 01/10/2006 19:20

Thanks all. I shall try and sew (never done it before so that should be fun!!!:-))
I shall also have a look in Matalan, son't i need to be a member or something?

Auntymandy, sadly my dd doesn have covers as she always kicks them off, i put her in a grobag. I dont think she talks loudly (not that i can recall anyways!) was just thinking that maybe my dd notices im not there, but not sure what age that starts!

Hi ya. Public Health Nurse told me not to worry about cold hands. Check back of neck for real temperature and don't overheat.

Maybe baby is making strange? My 5 month does.
