8 month old suddenly v short naps

Dd us 8 months and for a while was sleeping approx 7-7 then napping 9.15 -10.30 then 1.15- approximately 3.00 or 3.30 now she seems to only nap 30 mins in the morning and 20 mins in the afternoon all of a sudden.

Any ideas of why this might be or if there's anything I can do about it?

This happened here too, he now only sometimes has a nap in the afternoon. So far today he hasn't napped at all, he nearly did and then his Dad decided he needed to use the plastic bag next to him and he is now awake and playing on the floor. I assumed it was just him cutting down to needing one nap a day although I worry he is a little too young for only the one nap.

Oh dear, hope it's not a sign if only one nap.
Hiw old is your ds?

Early 9 month sleep regression? Our DS went through about a month of sudden half hour naps, then just as suddenly went back to his usual pattern, which was very similar to your DD's.

At this time babies tend to be sleeping 30 minutes around 9am and then 2 hours after lunch. They tend to drop to 1 nap at around a year usually 12.30-2.30 :)

What time are you trying naps? if she is only having 30 minutes at 9am then she needs to be going down for a nap at 12.30 otherwise she will be overtired and find it hard to sleep any later.

Thanks. She is generally sleeping 9.15-10.00 in the am. When should the pm nap be if this is the case?

My son started this at around 8 months and is still like it at nearly 9 months. I had thought dropping down to one nap happened at around 12-18 months so initially put it down to teething but it hasn't improved so assumed he must just be dropping a nap although he has had teeth popping through pretty much constantly for a while so they could still be bothering him.
