2.4yo meltdowns - tiredness/no nap

she is my second child. she has these absolutely horrific meltdowns. usually in the afternoon. she dropped her nap months ago as she just tries to keep up with big sister who is nearly four. as im typing this she is pinching me, hitting me, screaming and just uncontrollable. all due to tiredness. ive tried being kind, seeing why she' sad, hugs, calm down time but shes beside herself.

she only naps on a friday as she knows we are going swimming. both of them do. my baby boy does too. she apologises right away after her meltdown but i dont see why she doesnt just give in for a nap. or just these melt downs are draining. its not all the time but i definitely seee it when she is tired. (nearly alwasy at this time. 2pm-3.

sad today.

How do you get her to nap? I would enforce it via engineering a walk in a pushchair or drive in the car.

we have a good route on the way back home so its usually by car journey. but almost everyday she will just not seem tired around 12:30/1.. or even if she is, she'll just say "no nap today!!" except Friday when she will go at 12...

failing that, i will sit on the sofa snuggled with them with a dvd which can work.. but not often. or just in silence. Its hard as she does need it but it hits her around the 2-4pm mark. but the emotional outbursts are just triggered by tiredness. or a build up of it.

Good luck! With my dd she will nap easily if she has a good run around. If not I have to lie down with her (while my older one watches TV!)

Ok so she had a good nap. And has had three episodes of crying/ pretend baby cry. Mimicking a baby cry noise. Triggered by no sharing of toys or wanting a toy from big sister.

I know kids are different but geez. These are far and few in between but boy are they loud. And draining when it's a day when she does it a lot. Usually tiredness but now today it's just????

My eldest girl didn't have them as bad but then I guess she also never had anyone to fight over toys with. So the comparison is irrelevant.

Sometimes she gets in such a rage that I think... Where is she seeing this? Especially as we live in a very loving family.
