When did your LO climb out of their cot?

DD is 15 months and a right monkey and very adventurous too. She hasn't shown any signs of trying to climb out of her cot yet, and I'm wondering if and when thats likely.

Was around 18 months for dd1. When we heard the thump and she arrived in our room soon after it was a surprise! Decided it was safer to take the sides off then. But if she hadn't been an escape artist I would have been in no rush to move her to a bed.

DD1 was 20 months. DD2 will be later (hopefully much later). If your DC is happy in their cot, don't rush to change it.

DS is 18mo and I'm wondering the same thing.
But we use sleeping bags so I'm guessing that will inhibit him somewhat. Here's hoping anyway!

Dd never did. When we took the sides off her cot on her 2nd birthday, she also didn't ever climb out of bed.

Neither of mine ever did! Both in beds by 2.5yrs

Ds1 was in a travel cot until moving into a bed at 2.5y. Never climbed out.
Ds2 was a completely different story. About a week after turning 1 he managed to climb out his grobag and out of his cot. He actually chipped his front tooth on the foot stool for the nursing chair

DS1 was 20 months I think. I remember the I felt when he suddenly arrived downstairs!

My did never climbed out, even when we took sides off her cot, she would lay there calling us in to her in the morning "can I get up now?", us - " ur, yes"! She never realised she could get out of bed without us! She's now six and still is more likely to play with her toys in bed that get out!

DD is 2.7 and I remember thinking about a year ago that we had to buy a cotbed instead of a cot as I thought she was going to climb out any night, as she climbed everything else she saw... but nope, no sign yet!

not sure how old (under 2) my little brother learnt to pile up the soft toys in the corner of his cot, climb out & land on his head. my mum removed the soft toys & put him back in. but he didn't stay for long.

mine never did. DD is now 4.5 and has only just started climbing out of bed in the morning.

18 mths for both risk-seeking sons (both happened in day time in bare feet for grip on cot ?- as in sleeping bags at night). It might be worth thinking about what you will do next as once they are out once...

Neither of mine ever have....! Youngest is 2.5 and shows no interest in trying to get out... will probably get him a bed when he starts potty training (he's nowhere near ready yet).

Ds1 was a very good climber but never tried it. He did wear a sleeping bag though. He was capable of climbing out as he'd managed similar in other situations.

Ds2 is 22 months and hasn't really tried it. Not sure he could do it if he did.

Oh, they both worked out how to get out of their grobags (various fastenings) too!

18 months for my son. Please be careful if your toddler is still in a sleeping bag thing- we know of one child who climbed out of cot and hung himself as the sleeping bag got caught. Truly hideous

BikeRunSki, my ds did that too, he would walk up and down his cot until the popper on the shoulder would release and he would be up and over his cot in the blink of an eye.

Anotheronesoon - that's awful and not something I had considered... ds is still in his age 3-6 years sleeping bag. I am not sure if the risk is greater to leave him in it or to risk him climbing out more easily and tipping furniture on himself or whatever else. Scary.

Dd is 13 months and been climbing out since she was 11 months
