Which is worse - pick and eat or pick and flick?

pick an flick has got to be worse, can you imagine wading through great piles of dried up old snot, ankle deep. At least pick and eat is tidy .

Ah its good to contemplate the deeper stuff in life isn't it, keeps perspective

imaginaryfriend · 25/09/2006 14:12

pick and eat is worse. If I have to think about it at all ...

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 25/09/2006 14:12

Picknflick

EmmyLou · 25/09/2006 14:17

Pick and eat def worse - why intentionally ingest snot?

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 14:19

Oh, sweet Jesus, why did I click

Ellbell · 25/09/2006 14:22

DD1 (5), DD2 (3) and DD1's best friend are all in the back of my car. The conversation goes as follows:

Friend: Ugh! Your sister's picking her nose.
DD1: Oh yuk, that's gross!
Friend: Oh, and now she's eating it...
DD1: Various 'yuk' noises
DD2 continues eating snot, completely unphased by the accompanying commentary.

Long silence

Friend: It is yummy though, isn't it?
DD1: Mmmmmm, yes!

ROFL Ellbell that one is priceless

SaintGeorge · 25/09/2006 15:11

Pick and eat is totally gross - but believe it or not is slightly better than pick and flick.

Apparently eating it can help to boost your immune system.

Prefer a good multi vit tablet myself

TBH, I don't care which is worse (or better), just as long as it's not done in front of me!

I aim to please Greeny (especially when flicking )

Have you tried the old onion/sugar trick for your bad throat? Also disgusting but it does help with the soreness.

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 15:50

No I haven't, but will try anything!!! How do I do it?

SaintGeorge · 25/09/2006 15:57

Slice an onion in half. Sprinkle brown sugar on a saucer and put half onion (cut side down) on it, sprinkle more sugar over the top. Leave for as long as you can then drain off the juice and use to gargle with.

White sugar will do, but brown does help (ever so slightly) with the taste.

Gingeme · 25/09/2006 15:57

Sorry ladies but I pick my nose all the time as does my 12 year old ds. We dont however flick or eat. Always put it in a tissue which is then binned or flushed. Its especialy good at the moment cause Im pregnant and ths bogies are realy good ones.
H he Oh but I think pick and eat is definately worse though.

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 15:57

Oh, thank you, I will try that!

PrettyCandles · 25/09/2006 16:00

I'm with you on that, Gingeme!

StG, my old Welsh boss used to swear by a chopped onion and brown sugar sandwich for colds and sore throats, but you had to eat it.

Probably works on the same principle PC. Onion is a natural antiseptic/antibacterial - the sugar just helps extract the juice and makes it more palatable.

Proof about my pick and eat theory which even has a name, Mucophagy

PrettyCandles · 25/09/2006 16:13

I was actually surprised to find anything on the net - although I heard it originally on City Hospital.

Of course there is a third way - pick and smear. My little angel of a DS2 was doing that for awhile until I realised. Chipping dried bogies off the bedroom wall was not fun.
