Nursery is exhausting DS!

DS1 is 3.9 and started nursery this summer after two years at a childminder. His CM only looked after my two and an after schooler so it was very peaceful.

Now he is just exhausted! Completely wiped out, and he's been ill pretty much consistently for two months. One thing after the other, nothing serious just constant.

Is this usual? He has always needed a lot of sleep, sleeps 6.30pm - 7am now and often takes himself off for a nap in story corner at nursery.

DH is worrying he is ill. I think it's pretty normal. Am I right? Is there anything I can do other than wait it out?

Normal if he was not in nursery before - lots of learning by play and generally high activity levels - don't worry Grin

Thank you :)
None of the other children nap and aren't as shattered as him at pick up but maybe they've all been there for years.

Totally normal, as are the illnesses. My two were full of different colds and viruses for the first 6 months or so. Now they are hardly ever ill! My ds still naps at nursery, he needs lots of sleep too.

Normal, it's exhausting just being in a totally new environment, without socialising with the other children and discovering lots of new toys to play with. He will eventually adjust. It's quite normal to pick up all the germs in the first few months. It will get better!!

Oh good. Picked him up at 1 today, he ate enough to feed an army and fell asleep on the sofa Grin

Sounds like he's having an awesome time Grin after 6 months his immunity will be bullet proof

I'm not sure - I think he likes it but he often says he was too tired to play (although he is a touch melodramatic)

Anyway, as it seems to be normal I'll just wait for it to pass
