My lg is 8 mo and isnt making any talking type sounds (if that makes sense?). I talk to her all the time and try to get her to copy me when I have her close attention, but she doesnt seem in the least bit interested.
When did your little ones start making controlled sounds? I cant remember when my lb started to talk (it was a long time ago!) but I know that he was talking fluently by a year old - I know this is very early and I'm wondering if I'm just making unfair comparisons.

They're expected to maybe have one word (mama, dada or something similarly simple) by a year as far as I remember. Talking fluently by a year would be EXTREMELY unusual.

I don't think you need to worry.

Ah ok, thank you

Yes I know my lb was very unusual, he did look a bit freaky sat in his pram chattering away Grin

3.5

So i wouldn't worry just yet Grin

One could talk in sentences at 1 and the other didn't come out with a sentence until she was 3. Don't sweat it and never compare, tis the road to misery Smile

8 months?? Seriously stop worrying!

Have a look at this site, has good info on what to expect. Look at the 'ages and stages' section

I don't think it is usual for dc to start saying words till about 10 months, and then only one or two. So don't worry.
That your ds could talk fluently at 12 months would be very, very rare, I would think - I have never come across or heard of another 12 month old who could do this. So I really wouldn't compare your daughter to him.

Ds1 had a handful of words by 15 months
Ds2 could speak 5 word sentences at 15 months
Dd could speak about 10 single words at 15 months

Supermummynanny · 20/09/2014 18:42

Dd is 22 months and doesn't talk..
