6month old not rolling

Hello, my dd is 6 months 1 week old. She is sitting, although still wobbly but is not rolling-is this ok? I have seen her roll onto her side some time ago, but she seems to be focused on sitting and is always trying to sit up when she is laying down. Should she be rolling before sitting? She likes to be up and likes to stand, obviously supported by us. She sleeps in a sleepyhead so I wonder if this prevents her from rolling too?

Don't worry, all babies develop at their own pace. My 9mo just mastered rolling both ways 2 weeks ago. He can't sit unsupported and he's not crawling. I'm not worried because he's always done things in his own time and despite being slow to get moving, his fine motor skills are very good.

Out of the other babies I know, they've done things at very different paces, e.g I know a walking 9mo and a not yet crawling 11mo, babies are all so different.

My DS is turning 1 today and he only started to roll over about 2-3 weeks ago. He started bum shuffling also the same time! He is not a big fan of crawling! He loves walking when he can hold one of our fingers. He did a couple steps on his own on the weekend! Smile

Every baby is different. Some develop quicker some later!

My SIL's child is almost 9 month old and has no teeth yet.

Believe it or not, my 19 month old could walk before she could roll. It was really odd, she would walk and lie down and be like a stranded beetle - she just couldn't turn herself over. I think she finally got it about 12 months. No idea why it was so hard for her but she's perfectly fine, in fact she's very physically capable.

DD is 9 months and rolled a couple of times about 4 months and turn nothing until a few weeks ago. I just don't think she was interested in doing it. She only now does it to get into a crawling position.

Thank you all for your reassuring replies. I think she is so keen to get up an moving that I wouldn't be surprised if she bypasses the rolling. I'll stop looking at other sites that tell me what she should be doing!

My 7mo isn't sitting or rolling. Think my 9yo was 10mths before she rolled. Honestly; don't worry. They all get there in the end. Actually..they're easier if they stay where you put them. The trouble starts once they can move ;-)

Don't worry, be glad that you can put her down in one place and she stays there for the time being. I have been trying to tell dc3 that he should do this, but no he wants to crawl under the table, eat crusty old food and bang his head. Grin
