Our 16 month old dd started a few days ago "crossing 2 of her fingers". Similar to what you do when you want luck or like on the National lottery adverts.

She was doing it occasionally but today has done it for most of the day although on and off..Should we be concerned.? Is this just a new thing she has learnt and is testing iykwim..?

Imagine my concern when my 10 month old started shaking his head from side to side. At first I thought seisure!!!!!And then he did it again straightaway laughing at me, he then proceeded in trying to get me to do it too. Have no idea where he picked it up, if it is normal or should be a concern! Finger crossing shows good motor skills in my opinion!

I thought ds was having a fit when he first shook his head as well

I was terrified!

thanks mum2..! Obviously we have a genius ..!!!

Well dd is also shaking her head from side to size. Usually while walking along the fireplace when she knows she shouldn't be on it. She looks at dh & I, smiles, shakes head and says neoun neoun (I think her version of No..! lol) She then proceeds to dance on the fireplace..!

Trouble with your 1st born, you panic to much..ds2b is due in Jan so maybe we may have chilled slightly by then...

Oww, thought my DD was unique in her early finger-crossing skills(at about the same age). Then she moved on to clicking her fingers - properly too! We got very excited. I didn't learn that til I was about 8! Now she is 2.9 however, she cannot click her fingers, although still likes a bit of finger crossing from time to time.
