Please help ladies.
Firstly our son was sleeping lovely I could put him to bed and leave him and he would fall asleep by himself and would sleep through the night (unless he was ill). All of a sudden a few weeks ago he started crying when I left the room and would carry on until I returned and sat with him until he went asleep. We reintroduced the ipod on the docking station which plays nature sounds and that has helped with the initial putting to bed. He now only cries for a minute before going off to sleep. That was a huge relief. One problem sorted.
But one problem remains. He is waking in the night once or twice and crying and crying.. he can't seem to go back to sleep and needs me in the room. We are at our wits end with this as we are both so tired. I have tried staying in the room which isn't ideal as it takes forever for him to settle again and i'm just knackered. I have tried leaving him cry and keep going in to put him back down but we haven't been consistent with this to date and it is simply horrible to hear him so distressed. But then when I go back in cos I feel bad and sit there or stand there he is smiling! So I think he knows what he is doing. This isn't night terrors as he behaves differently when he has one of those and he isn't properly awake or asleep and they are quite easy to deal with. I have tried leaving the light on but he still needs me in the room. I don't want to bring him into our bed, I have done that a couple of times but really don't want to have to do that all the time. I am wondering if it might be worth bringing his cot back into our bedroom, like we did when he was a baby? just until this phase passes? Any suggestions would be amazing as we are really at the end of our rope.
In terms of food problems he keeps throwing food and turning his plate upside down. Luckily he goes to nursery 4 days a week full days and eats well there. They tell us they never have any problems with him atall and as far as they are concerned he is a little angel!!!!
I have tried the plates with the suckers but he can get them all off the table so they are of no use. Was going to try giving only a little bit of food on the plate and immediately he starts throwing the food to take the plate away and put him down from the table and to also stop the snacks in between meals in case they are interfering with his appetite.
Any suggestions on this problem too would be great!
