10 month old - change in behaviour

Hi,

Am first time mum.

My 10 month old has always been happy independent girl but has become very clingy of late. Also certain things that uses to intrigue her now seem to fill her with fear - the washing machine washing and the vacuum cleaner.

She's also started to wake at night (twice) for milk; she used to sleep 7-7am.

Am just looking for any information on whether this is a normal behaviour change and if anyone Has had similar experiences and how you dealt with it?

Thank you :)

This is exactly the age you expect separation anxiety to kick in. It's a natural instinct that coincides with babies beginning to get more mobile and it protects them by preventing them from straying too far from their parents.

You need to think about whether you really want to give her milk in the night. If it becomes a habit she will start waking because he body expects food at that time and it is making her hungry. Water might be better.

Lots of children are scared of those loud sorts of noises. Try to expose her to them regularly in tiny doses from a distance so she can hear them without getting upset.
