Is this a stammer? Do I need to do anything about it?

Ds2 is 5. He tends to repeat the last syllables of words when he's talking. It sounds almost like an echo. For example he will say, "Mummy..y..y..y?', or "Just..ust...ust".

It's like a stammer at the end of his words. It isn't every word or all the time. Mainly when he's asking a question, so I'm assuming it's when he's thinking about things.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

My little girl did that for a couple of weeks when she was 2.5 - she then just stopped. Sorry I can't be more helpful! Hope it clears up for your DS.

Thanks Paloma. I thought it would pass but it seems to be getting worse. It's been a couple of months now.

Good to hear he's not the only one though.

If you are at all worried contact Speech and Language Therapy.
How long has your DS been speaking like this?
You will get the number from your GP surgery.

It's been about 2/3 months now.
